A top cop has shared a picture of two police officers that captures the moment when they applied a makeshift tourniquet to the leg of a stabbing victim.
The 15-year-old female was stabbed in Hyde Park after a fight at a ‘pro-cannabis’ gathering.
After breaking up the fight, officers discovered that the child had been stabbed and immediately started to give life-saving first aid.
In the tweet, Chief Supt Roy Smith said:
‘The photo that won’t get widely shared. Police officers administering potentially life-saving first aid and using a makeshift tourniquet.
‘Ultimately cops are humans doing their best to protect people and save lives’.
The tweet attracted nearly 2.5k ‘likes’ and just under 600 retweets.
The image also serves as a stark reminder that police officers will often be the first on the scene to incidents such as stabbings; They could be responsible for saving your, or a member of your family’s, life one day.
