A stop and search has led to the seizure of five machetes from a vehicle in Pollards Hill (Metropolitan Police) on Friday evening.
Response team officers were on routine patrol when their attention was drawn to a vehicle that was being driven suspiciously.
After indicating for the vehicle to stop, officers searched the occupants and the car, where they found five machetes and a quantity of cannabis.
Two males were arrested for suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and cannabis.
The incident once again highlights the importance of stop and search in the battle against out-of-control knife crime in the capital.
This year alone, 22 teenagers have been stabbed to death on London’s street. Last year, 18 teenagers lost their lives.
