Police Appeal For Information After Firefighters & Police Come Under Attack In Stockport

Greater Manchester Police have asked for information after police officers and firefighters came under attack in Brinnington yesterday evening (31st October at around 20:20 hours.

Officers were called to the area by members of the public following multiple reports of a widespread disturbance.

Reports were that around 25 youths were causing anti-social behaviour, including lighting fires, on Northumberland Road.

When police officers and firefighters arrived on the scene, several members of the group threw bricks and fireworks at the emergency workers and members of the public.

There are no reports of any serious injuries.

Police have asked anyone who might have information to call 101 (Greater Manchester Police), quoting incident number 3221 of 31/10/21.

  1. Before NPAS our helicopter crews would answer questions from the public by phone and give a rough idea of the type of tasking the helicopter was engaged in. They explained to us trainees that it was a very expensive asset funded by the public. A query doesn’t need to be replied to with data that breaches data protection but it can properly engage and inform the public if officers have time to do it.
