A drunk driver received a well-deserved surprise when Roads Policing Unit officers awoke them after he fell asleep behind the wheel, having stopped outside Almondsbury Roads Policing Unit (Avon & Somerset Police).
It turned out that the driver was twice the legal drink-drive limit. As a result, the driver did not have to walk far to be given a room at the police station.
In a post on Twitter, a spokesperson for the unit said:
‘Words fail us…
‘X marks the exact spot where chap parked his car for a nap overnight.
‘Whilst twice the drink-drive limit. That’s a road. Those gates… the entrance to Almondsbury RPU.
‘Our colleagues woke him, and kindly provided a comfier bed at the nearby custody suite’.
The tweet has been ‘liked’ nearly 300 times.
